How the Scoring Formula Works

Each AI opportunity you add is scored on three dimensions:

Dimension Meaning Range Interpretation
Cost/Time How expensive or time-consuming this area is today 0–10 Higher = more costly or time-intensive (bigger savings potential)
Difficulty How hard this would be to implement technically or organizationally 0–10 Higher = harder to implement
Impact How much efficiency or output improvement AI could deliver 0–10 Higher = greater upside

These three values are combined into a Weighted Score that helps rank opportunities by potential ROI vs. effort.

The Weighted Score Formula

Weighted Score = (Cost/Time × w_C) + ((Max − Difficulty) × w_D) + (Impact × w_I)

Where:

  • w_C = weight for Cost/Time (default 0.4)
  • w_D = weight for Difficulty (default 0.2)
  • w_I = weight for Impact (default 0.4)
  • Max = maximum possible score (default 10)

You can adjust these weights in the UI.

Why It Works This Way

  • Cost/Time is weighted positively — opportunities that currently consume more resources are more valuable to automate.
  • Difficulty is inverted (Max − Difficulty) — easier projects score higher, since they're faster to implement.
  • Impact adds additional weight for improvements in speed, cost, or quality.

So effectively, you're rewarding:

  1. Expensive or slow processes (high Cost/Time)
  2. Easier technical wins (low Difficulty)
  3. High ROI potential (high Impact)

Example

Opportunity Cost/Time Difficulty Impact Weighted Score (0.4/0.2/0.4)
AI Brand QA 6 5 8 (6×0.4) + ((10–5)×0.2) + (8×0.4) = 6.4
Creative Ideation Bot 8 4 9 (8×0.4) + ((10–4)×0.2) + (9×0.4) = 8.2

The higher the score, the more valuable the opportunity — balancing cost savings, ease, and potential impact.

Priority Bands

After calculating the score, each opportunity is classified as:

Band Score Range Meaning
High ≥ 8 Quick wins with strong payoff
Medium 6.5–7.9 Good candidates; moderate effort
Low 5.0–6.4 Lower ROI or higher complexity
Backlog < 5 Longer-term or low-value opportunities

Add / Edit Opportunity

Weighted Score = (Cost/Time × wC) + ((Max – Difficulty) × wD) + (Impact × wI)
